Privacy Policy

This privacy policy outlines what personal information I will collect from you and how it will be stored. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy MBACP (Accred) and abide by their code of ethics and professional standards.

 

I will collect some information about you in order to provide psychotherapy services. Information will include your name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, GP name and contact details. It may also include information about medication you are taking, alcohol and drug use, some personal and family history, and details of the issues you are bringing to therapy. I will only be taking this information in order to facilitate the psychotherapy work.

 

Some of this information will be discussed verbally; some of it will be written down; some may be collected via my website (www.bashiriniatherapy.com) or email. Any information that is written down will be stored on password protected digital devices or notebooks which are only accessible to me. Information will be anonymised as far as possible and will only be stored for the time during which we are working together, or for as long as is required legally.

 

I will not use your data for marketing purposes, and will handle your information sensitively and in a way that is compliant with GDPR. In exceptional circumstances such as those stipulated by UK law, I may be obliged to pass on personal information to another person or organisation.

 

Online therapy sessions are conducted over Zoom, which is a GDPR- and HIPAA-compliant digital platform. It is very secure, however no platform can be guaranteed immune from monitoring especially from state-sponsored organisations.

 

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your hard drive when you visit a website. They enable a more personalised user experience and generate statistics for the website owner. You can choose to disable or delete cookies in your web browser settings; this may affect your usage of the website.
